Practice Policies

*Metal cleats are not allowed on the fields at BFY. Players with metal cleats will NOT be allowed on the field.

*The following are forbidden on the fields at BFY–gum, sunflower seeds, tobacco of any kind, candy, drinks other than water.

Draft: There is no draft for Wee-Ball or T-ball. Teams will automatically have the players of the coach, assistant coach, and sponsor placed on the team. Any special requests will then be considered. All other roster spots will be at random. No more than 12 per roster unless numbers mandate it.

The draft for older age groups was modified in 2024 to be in line with other park/recreational programs. Teams will automatically have the players of the coach, assistant coach, and sponsor placed on the team–3 max. They will then have an additional “freeze” player. This will result in each team have 4 players automatically placed on their rosters. All other players will be assigned randomly by age and position (if necessary). Coaches will then be able to make any requests or trades amongst themselves for a pre-determined period of time. At the conclusion all rosters will be final. A copy will be turned into the Operations Coordinator and Event Management person, Daniel Talley. No changes can be made after this time. No more than 12 players per roster unless numbers mandate it.

PLEASE NOTE: LCR cannot take special requests via phone, text, or email. All requests must be made in writing on the registration form.

Rules: Unless modified by local rules baseball and softball will follow Dizzy Dean.

Batting: All players present will bat.

All-Star General Information

Team Selection

Coaches: The Head Coach of the team that finishes in first place in the league will have the option to serve as the head coach of the all-star team. If they decline or are not available it will be offered to the head coach of the second-place team, and so on.  All Star Head Coach will be allowed to select one’s choice of an All-Star Coaching Staff consisting of up to three assistant coaches from within one’s league (league head coaches and league assistant coaches are eligible).  However, the number of coaches that may be in the dugout during an All-Star game is governed by the League Organization Affiliation.

Team Selection: All teams will have the opportunity to nominate players for the all-star team. We highly recommended that all star teams have at least one player represented from each team in their league. The preferred roster size of each all star team is 13; however, circumstances may require additional roster spaces.  In this instance, the request to increase the all star roster size must be communicated and approved by the Recreation Director (or designee) and within the rules of the governing organization in which the all star teams participate. Head coaches of the league are encouraged to nominate their top player(s). Below is an example of how the selections could end up for an age group with 4 teams in their division.

1st Place–4 players

2nd Place–3 players

3rd Place–2 players

4th Place–1 player

At-Large Players–3 players (Selected by the head coach for the All Star Team and Recreation Director or Designee)
